Concrete sub-surface for Flexitec Pavers

If in doubt - ASK before starting the job.

  1. New concrete must be allowed to cure for 28 days before attempting to lay pavers.
  2. Concrete finish must be a wooden float or a steel float followed by a broom finish.
  3. Concrete must be clean and dry.
  4. Clean suspect concrete surfaces of additives with diluted hydrochloric acid.
  5. Don't lay pavers if the ambient temperature is below 10oC.
  6. Thoroughly mix the parts and the mix of Flexitec 4020 adhesive before spreading.

The system set out above shows the ideal method of preparation for installation of Flexitec Fallsafe pavers in children's playgrounds etc. For other applications such as equine or gymnasiums where new concrete has to be laid, the thickness and strength of the concrete will vary but the same general principles apply. In special cases pavers can be laid on other subsurfaces provided some basic requirements are met.
If the concrete installer varies the area to be laid, persuade them to work in even metre areas.
